I have a 2002 model elantra.

The first sign that something was wrong was when i was filling up with gas
and i couldn't keep a steady flow without the pump clicking off as if i was
full. After 2 fill ups that problem went away and i get the check engine
light. The only thing i notice is a it takes a few more cranks directly
after filling up with gas to get started but subsequent starts are fine.

I had the light checked and they came back with the following..

"P0441 Small EAVP System Leak"

They cleared the light and 2 days later it's back on again.. of course
they didn't solve the problem just the light. Is this a faulty gas cap or
something else?

It's probably either a faulty gas cap(mine only lasted 2 years), bad
hose, or a defective pressure sensor. First item to check would be the
gas cap, and the dealership should have pressure checked it when they
had it in the first time.

P0441 is not a code for a small leak. It's definition (no purge) is a
misnomer. Your purge valve is likely stuck open, causing the feul vapors
to continue to go into the intake when fueling.

P0442 would indicate a small leak.

Thanks for the replies.

That makes sense hyundaitech.. and would explain why starting directly
after filling up requires a few more cranks.
