04 EGT Central "Dome" Light - Hyundaitech?

I just took my 04 Elantra GT Hatch in for it's 12,000 mile service, and
while there asked them to check the central dome light.

The problem I had was that the light came on when the doors were opened, but
I couldn't get the light to come on manually via the switch. Of course the
service department were unable to find any problem, and the light now works
    correctly.

I had to endure the "you're a stupid owner and I'm going to explain the
three positions of the switch" training, and could tell that they didn't
believe me when I said it wasn't previously working.

My question then is for Hyundaitech or any other owner with any problems
with their dome light. Is it possible that the switch was bad and was fixed
by the service tech without telling me? It can't have been the bulb, or the
fuse as the light was coming on when the doors were opened.

Have there been any defective dome lights that work one minute, and not the
    next?

I'm starting to get paranoid that the service dept likes making me look
    stupid!!!

    Thanks,

    N.

I don't know of any history of problems with this. Most likely, it was
working when the technician checked it and that's why they're making sure
you know how to use it properly. The chances of them fixing it and not
documenting it are about zero, since they won't be able to submit a claim
to Hyundai for payment. Trust me, if they fix something under warranty,
they'll want to document it so they can get paid.

It's possible there's an intermittent problem with the switch or a loose
ground that happens to be working at this time. Just put it on the list
of things for them to address the next time you take it in. Just be aware
that they won't be able to do very much to locate and repair the problem
unless it's happening when they service the vehicle.
