1991 Lantra MAJOR oil leak

    Hi,
    Has anyone had this model suddenly spew out all its oil. This has
    happened to my daughters car twice now.
    Temp guage rises for just a minute then drops back to normal.Oil seems
    to discharge from a welch plug in the block just above the
    bellhousing.Usually about a good litre of oil is lost. Then the car
    just stops And fails to restart.
    Last time we filled it up with oil and the car just restarted.There
    was about 25,000 KMs between each occurence.
    Any ideas as to why this is happening.
