2000 Sonata with hesitation problem - ideas?

Hello,

I have a friend with a 2000 Sonata with a problem - it hesitates when
accelerating and I'm thinking to check:

plugs & wires
air filter
poss air intake/MAF/MAP/?? (clean out if necessary)
fuel filter?
fuel pump (say it ain't so!)?
run some STP/??? injector cleaner through it?

any other ideas or suggestions? Maybe he just got a tank of bad gas & it's
taking a while to work it out? If nothing else, is there a website
specializing in solving Hyundai tech problems you want to direct me to?

Thanks!

re: hesitation problem

i recall having a 1986 brand new corrolla with a hesitation problem

it was apparently a common faultry manufacturing-assembly problem written about
in consumer reports (or somewhere)

well, it wasn't too long before the ENTIRE F'ING TRANSMISSION crapped-out

i had to get a lawyer letter to Deerfield, Florida, where the warranty office
is

they finally paiid $1600 of it, and I paid a few hundred more

document every phone call and service that is done/not done to fix the
hesitation problem

a couple of letters or registered letters may do the trick

because an automatic transmission problem apparently is now developing

but i could be wrong, and there was no correlation

re: whether tranny is affected by chronic hesitation problem

fortunately the hyundai trans is covered for
100,000 miles anyhow

I had that problem before and found out it was a water problem in the
gas. I changed from a gas compagny to another and my problem was fixed.

I don't believe this has anything to do with the tranny - I think it's just
the engine, but thanks for your reply.
