I have a 2004 Elantra. The reported gas tank capacity is 14.5 gallons. A few years ago, I put what the meter at the gas station said was 14.5 gallons in it when I was pretty sure I had a few gallons left, so I assumed that station falsified the meter. A few days ago, at a different station, I put what the meter said was more than 15 gallons in it. Can the capacity change? Can meters at gas pumps be routinely falsified?
