Looking at the Hyundai shop site for pwr steering info it just says that it
is elec. power and there is nothing to check, is this correct?

Well, that depends. If you're having a problem with the steering, it
should be checked using a diagnostic scan tool. If you're referring
to maintenance, there's nothing to maintain. In my opinion, the
electric power steering is a no-brainer. It basically eliminates
everything that goes bad with steering systems: leaking lines, hoses,
    racks, and pumps.
