I've recently bought 08 GLS 2.7 with only 40K miles on it (not branded title). So far it runs pretty good except giving me a big time of socks smell from AC, however I've noticed abnormally too high Tach RPM of 3.5K at 80 miles. Even 90 miles, the RPM would run around 4K. Is this normal?

The AC smell is probably bacteria.
If you can spray some Lysol and air the car out over night???
    Or, try Ozium spray??
Which ever way you go, you need time to air out the car or you will suffer lung ....

As for the rpm, it does seem a little high.
Could the transmission not be engaging fourth gear or overdrive???
