Today I pulled off of main high way and stopped to relieve myself, as I was
in front of the car I could hear rhythmic chattering /rattling sound like
something turning and making noise from drivers side of car.
when I got back into the car I could smell burning clutch...
this cars always been noisy in neutral, when up push clutch in the noise
    goes away.
some times it doesn't come back...
but the noise outside seemed louder than usual , like a piece of wood
    tapping on solid metal...
think my throw out bearing is not engaging and releasing all the way
sometimes and could that be what caused the smell when it was idling in
    neutral?
it has 140 000 kms on original clutch.
still brings on the power fine, and will stall if I try to go in third gear
so I know its not slipping....
    so, any recommendations ?

The burning odor concerns me. You may want to take it to have it checked.
