Ok so I am a chick that tries to fix things herself due to no man and no money. So I had an issue with the battery running down and realized it was caused by the brake lights not turning off. Replaced brake light switch, so OK, then noticed I had no blower. I checked different settings, and the light will not come on for the ac. I checked all the fuses, they are ok. Is this an issue with a switch or do I need to replace a blower motor? Anyone have any ideas? I have not check the connector to the mower to see if it is getting power yet. Should that be a starting point. This is a 2001 Elantra and my daily drive to work car. I need to get it fixed soon as the defroster will be vital.

So it could be a blower motor resister, which is as I take it a plug of some sort. but that would not take out the light would it?

Do you have any electrical experience? Or knowledge?
Check the AC 10 amp fuse and relay in engine bay fuse box
Hot all the time.

Check dash fuse (behind change holder on left of steering wheel)
Fuse 16 is suppose to be 10 amp
Hot when key is turned to on
It goes to control side of blower motor relay.
Control is AC switch.

Check power to blower motor.
Power to blower motor relay comes from fusible link K 30 amps
Which then powers blower motor and powers the illumination for AC switch

Blower motor resistors have temp fuses
Use ohm meter to check for continuity
Should have small amount of resistance

Check AC fuse 2 10 amp in engine bay fuse box.
This fuse gets its power from fuse 16 10 amp
And it feeds the temp switch

I have household electrical experience, I wired 90% of my home, so I understand a good portion of it. I can borrow the equipment. I didn't want to replace the blower motor first then to find out it was a resistor, the 30 amp fuse is ok. thanks for your response! I will get on it and should be able to manage from here. There is more to a vehicle that the crappy owners manual. I work in a body shop and find that the manuals are frequently useless. They don't even tell you what model you have most of the time.

Does the AC clutch engage when you turn AC on?
If it doesn't then there are other issues
If it does engage the clutch then check the power going to the blower motor
If there is power and ground going to blower motor then take out blower motor and bench test
If it works then something else is the issue
If it doesn't work then replace

I have heard many times that the connector is loose and this is the cause of the blower motor not working
Other times, have heard it is the resistor pack. I don't know ... guessing.

Good luck

Where we are now. OK, so attached a battery to the blower( using the power in cable) and found out the blower works fine, I am finding that there is no power coming from the resistor, so just letting folks know where I am in the process, I have copied the suggestions from avisitor and as soon as my tester arrives in the mail I will be following those steps and see where it leads. At least I know that the blower works now.

Still working on that issue, hopefully I will be able to get my meter soon and be able to track it down.

You know the blower motor works.
There is another issue which is causing it to not work.
Either switch or resistor pack.
The only hassle is to find or get to them.

The issue was a pink boxy fuse(30 amp) for blower in the motor fuse box under the hood. It had no conductivity, replaced and now we are back in business. Thank you all for helping me trace the problem down, glad it was a simple fix. I also had the added benefit of adding to my knowledge. If something else comes up I will feel more confident in tracking down the issue.
