    2009 Hyundai Sonata SE V6 4dr Sedan (3.3L 6cyl 5A) w/ a mfg date of
    5/09. I'd say that's pretty new. Way too new for the AC to be on the
    fritz. Has the dual air but on or off when the AC's running, in any
    mode, the passenger side is just a tad cooler than the drivers. No
    biggee, right? Problem is there's no cold air. Just air. It's as if
    the gas has leaked out. Loose fitting? Sensor?

    Scheduled to go into the dealer next Monday for 'diagnostic' but I was
    wondering if any of you have had AC issues similar to this? I know it's
    speculation but perhaps there's a common issue I should know about.

    On another note the dealer called about a recall to check the arm rest
    for ripping? Anyone heard of that or an upgrade for the audio system
    firmware? Dealer mentioned both. I found these bulletins but don't
    know where I can actually view the entire contents of them?

    You can (presumably-- not sure if your own login displays all options) th
    TSBs at www.hmaservice.com. You'll need to register, and the sit
    requires IE.

    On the no cold air, you could check the a/c compressor fuse in th
    underhood fuse block. Since about the 2006 model year, there's been a
    increase in compressor clutch coils with insufficient resistance. Blow
    fuse probably means you need a new clutch coil.

    As for the slight difference in temperature, I doubt that'll ever change.
    Different lengths of ductwork, different areas of evaporator havin
    slightly different temperatures, etc. Just adjust the temps accordingly.

    The Radio TSB was for reprogramming the radio to resolve an A
    interference issue.

    The PCM reprogram updates the PCM control of the A/C compressor, but th
    TSB has no detail about what this is intended to resolve.

    The armrest recall is to address a potential issue with the material o
    the console armrest possibly pulling apart from the armrest. Dealer is t
    inspect. Replacement is to occur only if material is separating. Wouldn'
    make a special trip for this. Won't affect anything but cosmetics an
    would be covered by the 5/60 warranty anyway.

    Thanks hyundaitech.

    I had the car in yesterday for the AC problem and also an issue with the
    Nav unit. Says we're in Michigan instead of CA. The tech couldn't get
    it to reset right and even called the mfger (Garmin?) They told him to
    unplug and plug it back in. No joy. They're ordering a brand new one.
    Your thoughts?

    As for the AC the tech said it only had .55 lbs in it and should be
    closer to 2. He evacuated the system and recharged it, adding dye. I
    believe it does have a leak. I noticed last night a few spots right
    under the car's AC that weren't there before.

    If your already seeing the dye from the AC leak you should take the car back
    sooner rather than later so they can see it before it spreads all over, that
    should make finding the leak easier and faster. I'd give them a call and
    tell them what you see.

    As it turns out it wasn't dye I was seeing on the gge floor. The kid
    said he'd dripped something there. It's a fairly new gge w/o oil on the
    floor anywhere so I chewed him out for not cleaning it up of course. LOL

    A buddy of mine in the refrigeration business advised me it doesn't
    really drip in the traditional sense. More of a slight film around the
    leaky fitting if that's the case and the dye allows it to be seen with a
    special light. It took almost 3 months of daily use in 100° average
    temps to lose the freon so it must be a very minute leak. As the dealer
    added dye along with the freon when I had it in last week; along with
    that came the advise to take it right back if it began to blow warmer
    air again and they can actually see what's going on.

  10. I had a car that after about a year stopped cooling. Under warranty the
    dealer re-charged it. I asked what they fixes. Nothing, there is no leak.
    Two months later, same thing. They insisted no leak. two weeks later,
    same thing, still no leak. Next time I was less than 1/4 mile from the
    dealer and turned around. This time I got the owner, salesman, service
    manager, service tech gathered. They still insisted they could not find a
    leak. I asked what they check and they shoed me.

    I then asked about the evaporator coil. The answer was, "they never leak".
    You know the rest.
