Acceleration issues with Hyundai Sante Fe diesel auto 2009

Have an acceleration issue. Whilst driving and come to standstill or at the traffic lights. The car won’t accelerate when you push down on the pedal. You have to press the pedal several times continuously and then suddenly you get your acceleration again and drive off. This doesn’t happen all the time. You could be driving for 1 hour with stop and start and all is fine or you could be just driving for 20-30 mins and it can happen 1/2 times in that period. You don’t loose any form of acceleration whilst driving though. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. Thanks
