My car’s wipers have been acting up. Sometimes they work and
sometimes they don’t...sometimes they will start to wipe and then stop
mid way.

The dealership thinks it’s the either the motor or linkages and it
will cost around $185.00 CND to fix. I think if it was the motor they
wouldn’t be working / moving at all. To me it sounds like things just
need to be tightened up a little bit.

Any help or suggestions?

I just has the same thing done on my 2000 Accent (replace the linkage) and
it was about $200.
the dealership told me it because of salt getting into the seal and rusting
the metal.

Thanks for the reply!

Was your car acting up the same way mine is? Also would you recommend
going to the dealer or elsewhere?

with thanks,
char

Not sure on the 2000 but on my 99 I had a problem twice with the wiper
nut loosening up to where the wiper arm slipped. Try tightening the
nut at the bast of the wiper arm. It might be under a cap. 5 minute
fix if it works.

there was a recall on that linkcage issue u know

Would it be covered under warrenty? I had a simialiar problem, mine
happened because I was too lazy to properly clean off the snow, and the
nut loosened, this happend to both the front and the read wiper. Anyway
the mechanic told me that the wiper is designed to do this when there is
too much weight on the wiper, so that the entire thing dosent break. I
paid like $12 to have this fixed becasue it was my fault. (The back one
was fixed under warrenty at another shop for some reason, this is why I
reccomend getting a second opinion if you pay out. I paid the 12 becasue I
realized it was my fault, and it was only $12)

I think I recall something to the effect that the early model 2000
Accents had a recall for some problem with the wipers not working which
might cause an accident in a heavy rain.

Thanks for all the help guys.

I will try tightening the wiper linkage myself and see if that
works...if not it’s to the dealership on Monday morning at 7:30am.

I will try and ask again about the recall, even though I didn’t get a
voluntary recall websites say they weren’t exactly sure how many units
were affected!

thanks again, Charlene
