I will be collecting my 'new' (2000 model year) Sonata GSi today. It is the
first car I have had with alloy wheels.
In the past, when I have had new tyres fitted to a car, I noticed how the
tyre levers, used by the fitter, scrapped the paint from the edge of the
    wheel.
What are people's experiences with alloy wheels being damaged by tyre
fitters and is there a way to prevent damage?
    Many thanks.

You might contact a local car club and ask which fitter they use.

This is caused by carelessness of the installer or the age of their equipment.
Use judgement on where you take your car. Speed kills. Is it really that
important to have you new tires mounted fast?
Just voice your concern when you go to get new tires and get assurance that
they can do it without damaging your rims.
