Can you start a 2017 Sante Fe with JUST the mechanical key.

Smart key and mechanical key became separated. Lost the smart key, spare also MIA. I can open the door with the mechanical key but can I start the car. Emailed two dealers and Hyundai and they failed to understand the problem saying "just put the smart key next to the start button". On my Honda I can pop the start button off and start the car with the mechanical key.
Any advice appreciated.
