Clear Coat Keeps Peeling Off of 19" Gray Alloy Wheels

Clear coat keeps peeling off of my alloy wheels on my 2018 Santa Fe...

Can you tell me what has happened with this? I just noticed my 19" Gray Alloys doing the same.

they replaced the rims one time with the same ones that came on the car. If it happens again they need to have them repainted and powder coated or clear-coated a by custom wheel shop or something

Where are your located e.g. Australia or the US?

 

I won't accept anything other than a completely new wheel. Just took my 2019 Santa Fe Platinum in as 2 wheels are chipping and peeling. They ordered 2 new replacement wheels, and said if other 2 peel, they'll replace those too. Insist on new replacement parts if you bought the car new.....

 

All 4 of my wheels were replaced at once. I haven't seen it happen again yet.

The part number was different so the service manager said probably a new supplier

Glad you got them replaced. I did get 2 replaced, and so far haven’t had an issue with the other two. I’m definitely watching it though.

Yep the car is and was at the time under warranty. In Australia I'd still give it a go if it wasn't.

My 2019 Santa Fe ultimate black wheels clear coat flaking off to, but I haven’t seen a answer here yet ARE THEY UNDER WARRANTY? YES OR NO

 

I have a 2018 Sonata and while still under warranty, the Clear Coat on the rims peeled and Hyundai would do nothing about it. My service manager at Hyundai World, Virginia Beach, sent in pictures along with warranty verification but still got a negative response. Looking to find a class action Law Suit.

What year and mileage

 

Ann, I had 2 wheels replaced early on w promise Dealer would replace other 2 if they showed signs of peeling.
Fast forward 2 years to this past Summer, all 4 wheels were then showing some level of peeling. Dealer now said, cannot REPLACE them, but will strip, repaint, seal & buff all 4 wheels.
After arguing that they were reneging on their previous promise, I acquiesced and accepted their offer. They gave me a loaner for a full week. The wheels came back on my car as good as or better than new. My brother still thought they were replacements, they were that good. I also received a guarantee on the paint and gloss coating that was done. Mine is a 2019 Santa Fe, purchased new Aug 2019, Charlotte NC. Good luck, keep us posted.
