Fuel gauge inaccurate after replacing fuel pump

I had the fuel pump replaced in my 2007 Santa Fe yesterday. When my wife took the car this morning the range was showing 60 miles. She had hardly driven 15 miles when the car shut down and the range showed ---.

Is this a common issue?
