I had a feeling I should not have done that while the engine was warm.
Ill know better next time. It feels like the engine is constantly
missing...its somewhat smoother at high speed but still not right. Its
especially noticable at low speed and idle . I made sure all vaccuum
hoses are attached, and squirted WD40 in the front Injector wiring
harnnesses as well as on the wires and coil. At night, i ran the
engine to look for cross-firing/grounding spark..but saw none. What
is the most likely cause of the misfire and should i try anything
first before taking it in ? Thanks much. 2002 Santa Fe , 2.7 litre .

You've probably introduced water into the plug wire fittings at the
coil or the spark plug tubes.  Remove the plug wires from the coil to
check for moisture and dry out as necessary.  Also pull the wires out
of the front three plug holes and check there as well.  Again, dry out
as necessary.  While you're doing this, once you've removed any water
from the plug holes, pull the front three plugs and check to see that
you haven't initiated a carbon track down the outside of the porcelain
of the plug.  If you've got a carbon track, replace the plug and, if
you don't replace the wire, at least scrape the carbon out of it so
you don't develop a carbon track on the new plug.  If your problem
isn't repaired after doing this, you'll need to pull the intake plenum
and investigate the rear three plugs and wires.

Thanks much. I shall do as you say.

And what he didn't say was to stop hosing down your engine!!

What you fail to understand is that Dave's a moron
Water and automoblie engines don't mix just as bible thumping morons
and rational thought don't combine
