I have 2 Hyundais a 2004 elantra that I love and a 2002 accent that I bought
for my daughter 2 years ago. I made the mistake of financing the accent
through HMFC. This is the most behind the times organization I have ever
seen.
The Elantra was financed through trustmark bank-they sent me a payment book
and I was able to sign up for automatic payment deductions from my checking
account. I handle most of my banking through the internet and have regular
payments automatically deducted so that they are handled during my
occasional several months away from home each year. (We do a lot of extended
camping and living on the road in our camper)
HMFC, on the other hand, won't send you a payment book -instead they insist
on sending a bill every month that you have to tear the stub off of and mail
back to them (meaning you have to be at home to receive it and remail it. Or
you have to use western union ezpay by phone for a $2 fee and the
inconvenience of making long distance calls or coming out of remote areas to
reach a cellphone tower.
They also refuse to let you set up automatic deductions from your checking
account as every other financing organization on earth does. I did not
finance my elantra with them just because they are such a nuisance.

I think you have good reason to re-finance the balance with another
financial instituton. That will get you a decent rate and allow you the
flexibility you desire. Pretty easy to do also! I like Farm Bureau for ease
of re-finance and low rates but tons pf others are good too!
Good luck!
Thanks for the heads up on Hyundai finance.

I didn't have a problem setting up an online payment going to HFMC. When I
got the first bill, I simply went online to my banks online bill payment
service and set up a payment to be made to HFMC on the same day each month.
I had to wait until I had the first bill in hand so I could be assured I had
the account number and the proper mailing address.

From your description, it sounds like you wanted to do an automatic debit.
Many companies, not just HFMC, won't do debits. What you want/need is an
online bill payment account. I use such an account to pay virtually all of
my bills. Most banks have such a service. Some banks (like Wells Fargo)
charge a monthly fee to use their online bill payment service, but there's
no reason to pay a single dime. There are scores of banks that offer it free
of charge. Some require a minimum balance for it to be free, but many have
no minimum balance requirement.

yep They can't refuse payment this way. I pay almost all my bills this
way. Actually, I DO pay all my bills this way. :)
