How Hard to Change Transmission on Elantra?

I have a 2000 Hyundai Elantra front wheel drive. The transmission needs
changed. How hard would it be to take it out myself and put it back in
after a professional fixes it? Or is this something an auto shop should
    definitely handle?

    Thanks

An auto shop would definitely handle this. It would be difficult but
possible in your driveway I think. You'll need to remove three of the
four mounts holding the engine/trans assembly, so you'll need to keep the
engine supported. Shop around on reman installation prices. Be sure to
check your dealer. Hyundai keeps the price on the reman unit fairly low,
so the dealer can resell it at a reasonable price. I figure the unit
costs about $1100 and the labor to install would be about $700 at the
dealer where I work, and we're in the high rent district.
