You didn't say where in the world you are?
In USA, we don't use immobilizers
And if used then aftermarket which makes it removable

If you are outside the USA, say Canada, then you may have a factory alarm/immobilizer
Which means it talks with the ECU. If ECU doesn't get password then no start.
Remove immobilizer and there is no password .. therefore no start.

When key is first turned to the on position, all warning lights on dash should light up
Including the car with key symbol.
All should go out when car is started.

Is this no start ... a crank, no start ... or ... no crank, no start???????

Did you check the voltage on the battery?
Did you try to jump start engine?
    Note: Careful of the polarity!!!
