Hyundai Financing (in Canada)

Has anybody else had problems with financing in Canada? I ended up with
7 hits on my credit... is that normal? After a few days I was called and
told that I was accepted, and to come in with 2 pay stubs even though
they knew I had just started a job, and before that, I was
self-employed. They won't accept a letter from my employer, as it's a
family member. I know my situation makes it difficult to get financing
anywhere, but it's like they're accusing me of lying about my income.
Now I'm getting turned down by other financing companies because I have
had too many hits on my credit, even though I was never turned down.

They've really screwed me over.
