It's no big surprise when their only offering above and beyond the usual is
a 375 HP luxury car when we can't even get gas at any price and Wall Street
has taken our money as bonuses and golden parachutes. Duh??? Think diesel
you stupid marketing people!!!!!

Hyundai is reporting that it too was burned in September. Sonata sales
were the only area of increase, with a jump of some 31.7 percent, to a
total of 8,629 for September. (The nasty little asterisk is that the
Sonata is so heavily sold to fleet that Hyundai no longer breaks out the

Yes, but look at the segment that Hyundai targets... apparently middle to
lower income based on its cars' retail prices. And, as the owner of two 07
Sante Fe's (because 2 cost the same as even a new Grand Cherokee) I am
speaking from first hand experience - we are the segment that has been most
effected by this economic crunch. I notice that there is an abundance of
higher end cars mostly on the road now and also filling up with premium at
the pumps when many of us put in only what we can afford now.

Doesn't take a brain surgeon...

Hey, I'm retired on fixed income so I'm not biting on any overpriced gas
guzzling luxury car! I have a Sonata that is the daily driver and a 2003
Sedona that I only put 3000 miles a year on. And around here in Georgia,
there is NO premium at all!!! Most stations don't even have gas! Regular
is $4.09 a gallon!! If Hyundai is targeting low and middle income, what in
the hell are they doing promoting the Genesis in every other commercial on
TV?? Yes, there are a lot of high end SUV's on the road because the fools
bought them when they thought they were invulnerable and invincible, just
like they bought that 1/2 million dollar house with nothing down and great
rates. Screw them all now.

You should retire to Arizona, regular is about $3.30 a gallon and you could
find a gas station if you were blind.

The real loser the last few months I think is Kia who brought out the
Borreago about 6 years too late.

Yea, my cousin live in Alamogordo, NM and that's what his gas costs.
Kia was building a pickup in their plant here in Georgia/Alabama but
scuttled it in favor of a new small car to be introduced soon.

Ha, good one. Try NJ. We're at $3.02 in a few places today. We have the
lowest gas tx in the country. The problem is, almost every other tax is
the highest in the country.

And at that price they pump it for you too! I hate pumping gas in the
winter, not too crazy about it at other times either. Self service was a
screwing of the public.

I'm killing time and went to see the Genesis. Was not planning on buying I
was just looking. I tell the salesman "You'll have to come down a lot for
me to be interested". He says "We won't go any lower than sticker on this
car." I told him call me in a year or so. They had 5 on their lot.

It's a nice car, but if you can't afford it, just ignore the
commercials.

They are no longer targeting only the low and middle income buyers. They are
going for a piece of the luxury market. The Azera was to catch the
Buick/Lincoln /Avalon owner, the Genesis is after the BMW/Lexus/Mercedes
owners. Those people not only can afford a nice car, they can afford to put
the gas in it.

No matter how much or how little you want to spend, they want to take your
money. Years ago the Big 3 did t hat with different brand names, now some
auto makers will do it with one.

Amen to that, Edwin!!!
