My 2003 Elantra is almost at 3,000 miles. The manual says that I don't need
an oil change until 7,500 miles. What has been the experience of the
newsgroup on this? Opinions are welcome.

I'd have to check, but I thought the first oil change was at 3,750.

Your vehicle, assuming you drive it, likely does not qualify for the
service schedule you're looking at. The heavier duty service schedule
calls for oil changes every 3,000 miles.

I changed the oil on my 2000 Sonata at 1000 kms. it is better to change the
oil as soon as possible. After the first oil change is better for the car to
change it every 3000 miles, this way the engine last longer.
