which controlls the rad fan coming on?
the rad switch or the temp sender?
is the temp sender just for the gauge on the dash?
i need to know cause im going to try a new switch because were 3 hrs from
the nearest dealer to go and have any tests done. ( not very $$)
and miles piling up so new one cant hurt) if the new switch i put in fixes
    problem ill be happy...
if not, well have to go outta town i guess...
it came on again, this am was -21 out and rad fan came on 2 min after car
was started, ran for about 5 min tghen went off.
    doesnt come back on..
could it be just getting stuck??

car cools just fine when up to temp even in summer..

The fan is turned on by the engine control computer which reads the coolant
temperature from the coolant temperature sensor. This sensor is different
from the sender for the gauge.

This applies only to the current model, LC(2000-2005MY for N. America).
X3(1995-1999) has a thermo switch in the radiator.

I made my above post based on memory, so I went to the schematic. The ECM
definitely controls the fans. You can check the diagram at

i just recently replaced the thermalstat housing on a 1999 accent and found
two sensors mounted on it and this on a 1.5 12vavle maybe thats why it's
not on the radiator,i'm having trouble with the radiator over
heating, replaced thermalstat, gasket, hoses,i'm needing some advice
