Has anyone had their early 2000 Sonata's fixed for sub-frame rusting? What
is involved and how long does it take for inspection and repair?
    Thanks, Bob

Yes, I had my 2002 Sonata LX done late last year. I left the car
at the dealer, who said they would call me when it was done. When
I called them three days later, it was ready :-(. It looked like
they had it done the next day from the work order.

Apparently, they measure the thickness of the sub-frame and
drill drain holes in it if it is still OK. Otherwise, they
replace it. Mine got replaced, you could see it was brand new.

They did the door handle recall at the same time. I was in the
back of the Sonata last week, and found out:

They don't replace the door handles. They put "chrome" stickers
over them. The sticker on the rear started to peel off.
    *sigh*

Took my 2003 Sonata to dealer at 9:00 am and they called me at 10:00 stating
they were instilling a new sub-frame on vehicle. Provided me with a 2011
Sonata to drive and at 2:00 pm the same day called to say car was done.
Everything was done at no cost. The new sub-frame also eliminated the
suspension noise I had going over rough roads since the vehicle was new. I
assume the original frame was not installed correctly. Vehicle now like new.
