Just purchase a Santa fe diesel and was wondering what they are like for towing? TC
Diesel? Cool. I wish they sold a Diesel SF in the US. I would imagine that it would be much better for towing than the standard gasoline versions since Diesel engines generate tons of torque.
Diesel? Cool. I wish they sold a Diesel SF in the US. I would The power of the towing vehicle is almost 0% of the equation of towing since it only has to do with how easily one can climb hills or for extended towing sessions how fast engine and trans parts will wear but has nothing to do with controlling , STOPPING or steering. Tongue weight, vehicle braking ability,Gross Vehicle Weight Rating ,etc. are the thing. Use 75% of the GVWR as a proper figure and same with tongue weight and you and yours and others will be saf(er) although with passengers I suspect the weight rating of the stock rims are exceeded since with 4 adults these mini-SUVs built on car frames are fairly close to being overloaded. BTW the diesel actually diminishes the towing capacity since it weighs twice as much as a gas engine and effects the weight on the axles. I love our Elantra GT but having dealt with RV's and towing I just cringe at some of the combinations I see on the road. All I am saying here is Please do some research before towing anything or posting any 'I do this all the time' messages....re: I get away with this a lot . Be safe
