My smart key recently was acting up- sometimes needed several attempts before allowing my 2011 Sonata Ltd 2.0T car to start. A new battery in key the fob fixed the problem, but now I wondered if there is a way to start the car if the smart key is lost or damaged. Same question for unlocking the car or opening the trunk. I did not find any reference to this in the owners manual - did I miss it or is it not mentioned in the manual?

May be the guys who steal cars would know how to start a car with out the smart key
    I just don't know. Sorry.
Other than towing the car to a safe parking spot and going to the dealer with proof of ownership,
what can you do? Hopefully the dealer can get you another smart key based upon the VIN
