Smell gas

    I have 2006 Santa Fe. Had to change a flat and took the spare off and replaced it with the flat tire. Been really busy so I haven't fixed that flat yet but now I'm smelling fuel and my wife said their was a puddle of gas. Any ideas... Afraid to loosen the flat spare. Any ideas on if I punctured something or what
