had the car for 1month 1014 km on it
I drove it for about 15 min stopped at the store and when I restarted it the
lights dimmed and smoke poured out of the dash and steering column. I shut
it off and had it towed to dealer

    Question:

Do I demand a new car,?
    let the dealer fix it?
Is this just the start of lemon car?

    Question:
1.) Let the dealer fix it. even a lemon law lawyer will tell you that.
2.) Did the smoke leave a smell? Can the repair (and replacement) of the
    affected parts remove the smell?
    3.) Does it happen again?

If the problem happened as the car was driving off the lot, they should
replace it for you. Other than , they could say "you did something to it"
    foreign matter in vents etc...

Lemon laws vary from state to state, in Pa, it's a lemon if you lose use of
the car for 30 consecutive days, or the SAME problem occurs 3 time, or the
dealer deems the car as unrepairable. (that never happens)

    Good luck

That depends on what is wrong with it. It could be something simple
like a fried alternator. It could also be something worse...

Just me, but I wouldn't expect an alternator to cause smoke from the dash
    and steering wheel.
The car is comparatively new? If the smoke was acrid, I'd bet on burning
    foam, or plastic.

That's a good point. When the alternator on my Blazer crapped out it
started smoking out the vents between the hood and windshield.

Did you have a remote start or anti thieft system installed?
it is very possible this is the issue for your smoking dash.
    poorly taped, or routed wires.

    No extras have been added,
The Dealers now had the car since Friday and they don't have a clue.
