  1. Hello

What is the best motor for a Sonata, the 4 cyl. or V6 ?

    thanks

The V6 is much smoother and more powerful for just a few MPG less fuel
economy. I got the V6 and I'd like even more horsepower, but it's adequate.

  3. Totally agree. I drove both the 4 and the 6 quite a lot before I
bought my Sonata LX V6. I just came back from a trip from San Diego up
through Az NV Utah and Colorado then back through New Mexico and
Arizona to California. Lots of mountain driving and the Sonata with
the V6 was delight the entire way.

Agreed. I think that my V6 needs some extra power. 1st and 2nd gear
are OK but if you have to slow down to 20mph while getting ready to
stop at a light and then that light changes back to green you're going
to have problems because the car is still going to be in 3rd gear.

With the V6 its a dog but not too bad, with the L4 its a lead sled.

Sounds like you need to change to a lower gear when you accelerate away. If
you have an auto, then push your foot down hard and it will change for you.

No, the car should down-shift without my having to stomp the pedal or
using the Shiftronic. Either that or it should have the power to not
need to down-shift. Being in 3rd gear at 20mph is just crappy
    programming.

I agree, my V-6 Sonata does the same thing, and it bugs the hell out
of me. Nice car, but I'm not happy with the tranny.

I got the V6 and it could use even more power. Forget the 4 cyl. If you're
looking for mileage, get a hybrid.
