I have a 2005 Sonata and it has recently been locking on its own when I close the door. It doesn't always happen but it engages the alarm system. I have a key fob but it isn't working properly and probably needs to be replaced. Is there a way to disconnect the alarm system?

If it is a factory alarm then no. Factory alarms sends a code to the ECU so it can start and run.
Disable the alarm and no code .. so , no start or run.
Maybe someone else is smarter than me and knows how .. but I don't know
