I have a huyndai Accent 1996, the temp gauge read high all the time, noting
wrong with my cooling system, antifreez is full. When I start when motor is
cold like over night the needle goes midway, then when I drive for a few
miles goes all the way. What is going on?

You'll need to check your coolant temperature sender and gauge for
accuracy.

A quick check is that when the sensor is unplugged the gauge should go to
full cold, and when plugged in, it should go to full hot. If it doesn't
do that, then you're looking at a wiring or gauge problem. If it does
that, then you probably have a sender problem.

hey =)
our accents fan sometimes runs even when its darn cold out, so i take that
test would give a idea also?

The fan operates off a different sensor, so maybe not. Also, the fans will
come on anytime the a/c is on or when the coolant is above a predetermined
temperature (which will happen even when cold outside).

When the motor has a chance to cool down, I say being out all night at 24,
sould do that. When I start in motor the needle jumps midway, like i been
driving it, never mind the motor is ice cold, then when I drive and let the
motor heat, needle jumps all the way to hot, until I turn the motor off

i have no ac, the fan comes on somettimes even from a cold start, last
winter was coming on when was -40 out....

Sorry to awaken thread from the dead but no info is on these cars an i just got one. 96 accent sohc runs great /wireing sucks! started with temp not working than, fan, than showing over hot, turns out i dont it ever got hot until i used LH turn signal an than it stays showing hot and bounces in sync with lh signal, so i dont know where this ''ground'' screw up is other than the gauge circuit board before i spend money on unneeded item please help out
