The Malfuntion Indicator light came on

Took it to Pep Boys and was told told that the computer needed to be reset. What do I do now?
 
Take the positive cable off the battery and wait 10 minutes before reconnecting.
See if light comes back on.
If or when it does then have them read the DTC and give you the codes read
Look up codes on Google.

Actually I was given the same advice elsewhere! The one difference is that he suggested the negative not the positive. I tried it and it worked! Thx for the reply.
