    Hi All,

I'm considering buying a new Elantra 1.8 ltr

Our local dealer has a special on these which offers free auto transmission.

What are the general thoughts on this model with auto? I currently own a
mitsubishi but would like to change to something that is a bit more
    economical.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Where are you located? The U.S. models only come with the newer 2.0L
Beta II engine, not the older 1.8L Beta I.

    Hi,

I am located in Australia. The dealer has the option of a 1.8 or 2.0. The
1.8 is being offered with free auto this month.

Is there much noticable difference between the performance of the auto with
    a 1.8 as compared to a 2.0?

I like the bigger engine offered for 4 cylinders. Most of my driving
is highway 55-70mph, less stress on an engine IMO. If you mostly use
it for city or lite driving take the deal. Beside you have a great
    warranty no matter what.

I'd recommend the 2.0L They both have about the same amount of peak
hp and torque but I believe that the 2.0L engine has better curves on
the dyno. Then again, if you want the auto then going with the 2.0L
is going to significantly increase the price of your vehicle.
