    Hi there,

on the i20 1.2 of a friend, i did the cylinder head gasket (got overheated).

The head was given to a workshop for face milling (0,2 mm were taken off).

Then i‘ve put everything together, camshafts in, timing chain in, worked well.

(i used the old chain, i know, when the motor is half taken apart i should switch that too, but the car only has 35000km, and my friend will sell it afterwards).

Soo… timing should be correct, got everything marked before, when i turn at the crankshaft (no matter how often), these marks line up exactly.

BUT for rotating, i have to push with the chain tensioner, because at some point (always different point) the tensioner decreases its tension and the chain would jump over a few teeth. I bought a new timing chain tensioner, same problem…

When i hold with my hand against the tension rail, i feel at this point, that it decreases tension, but i can rotate ahead.

Does this have to do with oil pressure? The tensioner has a spring in it, but also a drilling for oil. Before the disassembly i could rotate the motor with zero problems.

If this has to to with oil pressure, how can this be possible? The motor needs a few seconds to build up the pressure, right? But in these few seconds, the chain would jump over 10 times, i think.

Is ther anyone who has/had the same or a similar problem?

Would be thankful for anyone who could help me.

    Thanks
