Took the 2004 Sonata plunge today

Bought a Brilliant Silver '04 Sonata GLS w/sunroof and rear mud guard
options today----$20,150 sticker, 1750 in rebates, 1250 extra off sticker
net 17,150. $7150 for my '02 Elantra GLS w/every option, 14,500 miles, net
deal $10K.

So far, impressive car, especially when compared to the Elantra (although
the Elan was good for what it is)---

I am fairly certain you will enjoy your new Sonata. We own a 2003 white
Sonata Lx with the Moonroof/ABS/TCS option (i.e. fully loaded). My wife
loves everything about the car including the leather seats which come
standard in the GLS as well. At the time we bought (April 2003) the rebates
were only $500 so you got a good deal there. You should be getting between
22 and 27 mpg in mixed driving.

 

You overpaid by about $1500, but then maybe you made it up on the trade.

Got 28 on a thousand mile trip (with 2400 miles on odometer) on my 2003 GLS.

I somewhat suspected that I overpaid by about $1000 bucks, not especially on
the new car part of the deal, but the number I got on the Elan ($7,150).
According to three online used car appraisal services, the trade range on
the Elan was a low of $6,000 to a high of $8,300 as optioned (not including
the aftermarket alloys that I added). I prolly could have gotten another
$500 to maybe $1000 for the trade, if I had held out. And another $300 to
$500 off the new car. But Se la vie, it's done-------

Price of new car looks good compared with www.edmunds.com
