Towing Santa Fe

Discussion in 'Hyundai Santa Fe' started by D. Weatherwax, Jun 22, 2003.

  1. Hi
I don't have easy access to Hyundai dealership or sales information. Can 4WD
Santa Fe with auto transmission be towed behind RV ( four wheels down)?

    Thank You!

Never tow an automatic transmission 2WD or 4WD! Very few cars with
autos can be towed. What happens is the transmission is trunring with
the wheels but there is no lubrication (no transmission pressure). You
MAY be able to find a "disconnect" for the hubs, check a 4WD shop or
do a google search for "hyundai 4wd free hub" and you'll find pages
    such as this:

Such hubs work where the axle is full-floating.

In the SF case, hubs would be required on all wheels, presuming, of course,
that all are full-floating, which I strongly doubt.
