Tranny shifting problems

The tranny wouldn't shift high than 3rd gear. Flushed tranny fluid and was fine for about 2 weeks. Then it quit moving when it got hot. Had it towed home. After sitting for several days I tried to move it. It was working good. I didn't drive it to get it for I didn't want to get stranded somewhere. Anyone else have this problem ? Does anyone know what the problem might be ? Any help would be appreciated.
