Turn signal short

I recently bought a used 2001 Hyundai Elantra GLS. It has a problem
such that when you jiggle the turn signal/lights stalk the parking
lights and the control panel backlights dim and flicker. I've checked
the wires going to the parking lights and they seem solidly connected
so I assume that something inside the stalk is shorting out. I
understand that the 5 year/60K warranty is transferable and I have
only 49K miles. Do you think this is something covered under this
    warranty??

Sounds like it should be covered. It's a rather comprehensive warranty.
Based on what you've posted, I think you need a new light/turn signal
    switch.
