    Hi all

I am seriously condsidering a 51 plate Santa Fe 2.0 TD and was wondering
what are peoples views on this vehicle and whether or not it is a good buy?

I have a family with 3 kids and go camping so it is vital to be able to cope
    with a large load!

  2. EXPN "51 plate" ?
People on this newsgroup seem to like the Santa Fe, but this NG is not
really a representative sample. I read an "extended review" (they kept
the car for a year) of the 2.7L V6 Santa Fe in Automobile or Car and
Driver a couple of months ago, and the reviewers mostly liked the cargo
capacity and general reliability of the thing.

They all complained about its relative lack of power, though. The 2.0L
4-banger would be even worse in that respect; ~130 HP is really not
enough for a car as heavy as a midsize SUV--at least, it isn't in the
USA. YMMV in .uk since IIRC you get taxed based on the engine
displacement of your vehicle, which is why you see so many tiny cars
over there. When you go for a test drive, try to pack as much weight as
you can in (have the wife and kids along, that is) and see if it feels
    sluggish to you.

everything you ever wanted to know about a SF.
From what I gathered at this site the TD SF is quite sufficient for you
requirements with great fuel economy and the ability to tow a fairly large
    (19') caravan.
Proper useage of the transmission yields decent performance, contrary to
what many people regard as too small an engine.

The 2.0 SF has no power at all. If you are going to be lugging around
camping gear, as well as your family, I'd suggest the 3.5 if it is
available, otherwise the 2.7. DO NOT buy the 2.0, you'll regret it.

The Santa Fe 2.0 CRTD GSI should do fine. Plenty of low-end
torque. Room wise, I assume your kids are still young - not fully
grown footballers with shoulders half a car wide! =;-)
