What's a decent price for a GT?

I have my eye on a 2002 Elantra GT hatchback on a VW dealer's lot. It has
over 28000 miles, optioned with an automatic tranny, and has silver paint
that for some reason is chipped on the roof in at least a dozen spots. It's
as if gravel had rained down onto the top of the car. Other than that, it
looks and drives great.
Any thoughts as to a good (low) price that I might get away with on this
beauty? I'm located in the Pacific Northwest, in a metro area that has lots
of cars to choose from, but also lots of available buyers. I can pay cash
and won't bring a trade-in into the deal. I know what the various price
guides say it should be worth, but there's a lot of variability from one
source to the next.
Thanks for your input.

You know what it's worth. Offer $2,000 less and go from there. Decide
how high you're willing to go and then stick to it.
