    Hi,
Just out of curiousity, would a windshield crack be covered under warranty?
Probably not! Normally, I would do this through comprehensive insurance but
I would rather not make the claim in case they want to increase the
    insurance premiums.

Depends on what caused it to crack.
I know that Toyota had problems, with the Corolla, when the heater was on
full onto the windshield and caused it to crack.
    That was claimable under warranty.

I think it was a stone chip that started this and the heater was going full
blast so I may have to go to one of these windshield repair shops to get
    this replaced.

    Warranty, generally no.
    Insurance... Check your deductible first!
I found I have a $500US glass deductible and it cost $250US to get a new
    front windshield.
So it didn't even make sense to make a claim.

ALSO.... At this point in time I do not recommend using "Safelight Auto
Glass". Although the price was reasonable, I have an issue with them that
has not been corrected yet (from before Thanksgiving). Yes their customer
satisfaction department is aware if it.

If it was a rock ping that caused a "star" shape impact, IF you can
get it fixed prior to it spreading into a full blown crack many
insurance companies will pick up 100 percent of the cost without
affecting your rates. It's cheaper for them to fix it that way than
pick up the possible cost of replacing the entire windshield after
    your comprehensive deductible.

Also, many insurance companies WON'T pony up one thin dime, even out
of comprehensive, if the crack doesn't extend into what they define as
the drivers' critical view area. My experience with varioius
companies is that this "area" differs from company to company.
