Wiper Arm Problem

Had to install a new wiper motor. I removed the wiper arms and the motor. Reinstalled the new motor. When I went to put the wiper arms back on they wouldn't work properly. Like they wanted to go down into the engine compartment. I tried to adjust them up into the windshield more but they still wouldn't start from the bottom and go to the top. They would still want to only move a little and towards the engine.

Is there something I'm missing. Alignment in positioning somewhere. I have no idea. It should be pretty simple but I'm at a loss here.
