I just took my 04 Elantra GT Hatch in for it's 12,000 mile service, and
while there asked them to check the central dome light.
The problem I had was that the light came on when the doors were opened, but
I couldn't get the light to come on manually via the switch. Of course the
service department were unable to find any problem, and the light now works
correctly.
I had to endure the "you're a stupid owner and I'm going to explain the
three positions of the switch" training, and could tell that they didn't
believe me when I said it wasn't previously working.
My question then is for Hyundaitech or any other owner with any problems
with their dome light. Is it possible that the switch was bad and was fixed
by the service tech without telling me? It can't have been the bulb, or the
fuse as the light was coming on when the doors were opened.
Have there been any defective dome lights that work one minute, and not the
next?
I'm starting to get paranoid that the service dept likes making me look
stupid!!!
Thanks,
N.
